Rachele Somaschini will be at the starting line of Aci Rally Monza 2020, the last and decisive seasonal appointment of WRC.
Less than two weeks away from the good performance at Tuscan Rewind, Rachele will be back behind the wheels of Citroen C3 R5, prepared by Sportec Engineering, in her home race, ACI Rally Monza, one of her most loved once. Is not the first participation in Monza for Rachele, since this year it will be the fourth, an event that she always attends to close the season.
The 2020 edition is going to have a different taste: Aci Rally Monza, in fact will have a totally renewed format, from the name to a new section with the stages in the mountains of Bergamo. This races is going to be valuable as the last round of the World Rally Championship.
All these factor give Rachele a great motivation to performe well, after testing the car on the Tuscanian gravel, in the tarmac stages of Monza and the Orobic Pre-Alps. With Giulia Zanchetta, the co-driver with whom Rachele raced in FIA ERC 2020.
The event in Monza, which saw Rachele’s debut with an R5 in 2018, this year will be a World event but without public, an uncommon situation as this race was born to entertain spectators. This is the reason why, during the race will be guaranteed the live streaming on WRC ALL Live, the social live from the organization and a big coverage on TV from RAI. In fact, RAI Sport will broadcast live various stages, from SS1 on Thursday 3 December, plus different sections on the National News, with the aim of giving to the fanbase the possibly to follow the competition entirely (and safely) from home.
“I’m very exited to compete, in this difficult season, in a world event ACI Rally Monza – Rachele said – for me is always in which I partecipate with great emotion. My passion for engine started here, in Monza, when I was a child, following my father’s races. I can’t miss this special appointments , moreover this year since it has been added in the WRC calendar. My goal is to increase our experience with the C3 R5, that I’ve tried for the first time last week in Tuscan Rewind, to close the season in the best way. I want to thanks all the sponsors that support me and allow me to partecipate in this great event. This season has been marked by a painful event but also a push forward: a few days ago, passed away Nicola Imperio because of Covid, a dear friends and supporter of mine, an expert men, well known and loved in a rally world. Nicola after meeting me during an event, decided to participated in my project #CorrerePerUnRespiro (#RacingForAbreath) aimed at raising awareness and funds for the Research in Cystic fibrosis, which affects me since birth. Nicola spent a lot of time and energy to promote this cause. His family decided to honor his memory promoting, during this month, a Foundraise for “Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica”. You can contribuite through a donation on Facebook or with a bank transfer. I know that Nicola would have followed me in Monza, to support me as he always did, but instead of crying his absence, I know that he would like to see me doing my best, both during the competition and in my life. That’s exactly what I’m going to do.“
16 stages in total will composed ACI Rally Monza, which will award the 2020 World Champion. The race starts of Thursday 3 December with SS1 of 4.33 km, entirely inside the Monza’s track. Also on Friday the race continuous with five SS scheduled in Monza Circuit, while on Saturday there is going to be the hardest stages in the province of Bergamo, with 3 special stages “Selvino”, “Gerosa” e “Costa Valle Imagna” to repeat twice before to come back in the Circuit. The great final will be on Sunday with 2 stages and the Power stage in the circuit.
