The Milanese driver makes her debut in the European Championship (ERC) 2021 at the Rally di Roma Capitale to continue her apprenticeship on asphalt with the Citroen C3 R5 and her knowledge of the races in view of the future

Innovative tech company joins Somaschini with an exclusive livery and supporting her fight against cystic fibrosis

Cusano Milanino, 20 July 2021

Rachele Somaschini thanks to her commitment and the support of her new partner Prima Assicurazioni is back to compete in the 2021 European Championship, starting with the Rally di Roma Capitale, scheduled this weekend in the lower Lazio region.

It is a project that finally comes to fruition and that took months of preparation, finally perfected with the signing of the agreement between RS Team and Prima Assicurazioni. The brand of the tech company that has revolutionized the world of car, motorbike and van insurance, and that has recently launched a home, family and accident product, will “dress”, with an exclusive livery, the Citroen C3 R5 of Rachele (always prepared and managed by Sportec Engineering) in two events of the continental series: the Rally of Rome and the Azores Rally.

Prima Assicurazioni thus indirectly also supports #CorrerePerUnRespiro, Somaschini’s project to raise funds for the Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica (FFC), through a collaboration that represents a first “taste” of the rally world for the tech company, which is however looking at the possibility of expanding into a full international level programme in 2022.

Moreover, Rachele – who is still joined on the notes by the experienced Nicola Arena – is facing a new challenge: hers is in fact the first participation in the race with a Rally 2 class car, after having competed in the previous editions with cars of a lower class (Citroen R3T in 2018 and 2019, Peugeot 208 Rally 4 in 2020).

“I’m over the moon for this return to the European Championship – comments Rachele Somaschini – which is a series as formative as it is challenging. Challenging races with very different characteristics make it a perfect gym for the growth of driving technique and the very cooperative and friendly environment makes you feel like in a family. The ideal situation to try to improve without experiencing too much stress in the competition and then of course not secondary is the great media coverage provided to the Championship by the Promoter. It’s a great result,” continues Rachele, “after the difficult year we’ve been through, to have entered into this collaboration with such a prestigious partner as Prima Assicurazioni, which, like me, aims to expand its target audience. It was really important for me to return to the European Championship for my personal growth programme. Therefore, the objectives of #CorrerePerUnRespiro, my project to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation (FFC), and the strategies of Prima Assicurazioni dovetailed perfectly to create this partnership. I would like to thank this sponsor very much for their support and trust, as well as those who continue to support me, which allow me to take part in such a prestigious series and which I will try to reciprocate with maximum commitment. The Rally of Rome is a very technical and fast race and at my first time here with an R5 we will have to put in a lot of effort to do well.”

“We strongly believe that solidarity and responsibility are two fundamental values for an insurance company – underlines Anna Sanfilippo, Chief Marketing Officer of Prima Assicurazioni – and that sport is a perfect vehicle for positive messages. For this reason, as we have already done with ACF Fiorentina, of whom we are sponsors and with whom we have promoted a campaign on safe driving, we have now decided to get involved with Rachele for a good cause”.

The European appointment is therefore for Friday 23 July on the starting grid of the Rally di Roma Capitale, which will see more than one hundred registered crews parading in the setting of Castel S. Angelo, starting at 19:30. The drivers will immediately face the SS 1 “Caracalla”, the first of the fourteen timed stretches of the Lazio event, which will end on Sunday 25 July with the prize-giving ceremony in Fiuggi.

For those wishing to support the #CorrerePerUnRespiro project, it is possible to choose solidarity gifts on correreperunrespiro.it or make a donation.
