Double debut at Rally Roma Capitale for Rachele Somaschini, beginning her challenge in the ERC3 Junior, on the new Peugeot 208 Rally4. Follow Rachele’s social media channels to find out the livery preview.

Cusano Milanino (MI), 17/07/2020 Rally Roma Capitale, the starting race of the Italian Rally Championship and the first post-Covid event of the FIA rally competitions, will mark an important double starting line also for Rachele Somaschini. In fact, in addition to being at the start of her first European full-time experience, the Italian female champion 2019 will debut on Italian soil by bringing the new Peugeot 208 Rally4 to the race. The all new two-wheel-drive of the French manufacturer, equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, capable of delivering up to 208 horsepower, will show the colours of the RS TEAM SSD and will be managed by Sportec Engineering. The new livery will be revealed very soon on Rachele’s social media channels.

This is the ideal car for facing the ERC3 Junior, the European series dedicated to Under 27 who are going to race with Rally4 or Rally5 class cars, Pirelli tyres and which this year is focusing on four main events. Rally Roma Capitale (24-26 July) will be followed by two events on gravel, Rally Liepaja (14-16 August) and Azores Rallye (17-19 September), preceding the grand finale, on the famous asphalt of Rally Islas Canarias, scheduled for the last weekend of November.

Rachele, in this European adventure, will be accompanied by Giulia Zanchetta whom with she shared the cockpit for the first time at the 40th Rally Internazionale del Casentino, a race at the beginning of July which officially reopened the Italian rally season after the lockdown. Good harmony was shown in Tuscany by the new crew, which ended up obtaining the first place both in the Female classification and in the R3T class.

Rally Roma Capitale is one of my favourite races – said the Cusano Milanino driver –, while for Giulia it will be the first time. We are trying to train hard for it, by also watching the onboards of the past years, in order to keep us well focused. The goal will be doing our best with a totally new car and to refine the feeling with Giulia, as we have only raced once together so far. I feel this responsibility, but I am very happy to be the first Italian rally driver to race with the Peugeot 208 Rally4.
I thank my sponsors who, after a difficult period, offer me this chance of getting involved on the European stage and allow me to make the #CorrerePerUnRespiro project known even across the Italian borders, with the aim to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis”.
